What matters to me? As well as other things, being What matters to me? As well as other things, being a Christian means there is always someone to turn to, whether I want to share joy or fear, excitement or tears. God is always listening, and spending time in prayer to Him lightens every load, and amplifies every joy. As well as that, God has given me a 'family' of people who all believe the same things, and I can turn to them too. We all share the same core beliefs, hopes and values, even though our life stories are all different. Therefore, sharing feelings with my church 'family' always gives me something valuable back. For example, when I am grieving, sharing it allows me to express and feel the sadness and the pain, but also allows me to share the hope that one day God will take away that sadness and that pain. Having someone else to help you to hope is so helpful and healthy. I have never felt more grateful for my faith and my church 'family' than when I was grieving. #searchforhope #sfhscot #christianliving #grief #hope #comfort #godsfamily #helpingeachother
What do you “hope” for..? Today, the word ‘ What do you “hope” for..?
Today, the word ‘hope’ defines something that ‘may’ happen.
However, when the Bible was being translated it mean ‘to place trust’, to ‘rely’ upon...
The Bible hope is ‘certain’!

“Peace”... ...on earth? With the experience “Peace”...
...on earth?
With the experience of the past year it seems hard to believe it could happen.
But it will.
Jesus’ life could hardly be described as ‘peaceful’ and yet his whole being and purpose depended on the peace he drew from his Father.
We can experience that same peace now, and more fully in the Kingdom of God, to be established on this earth.

What matters to me: Ever since I was a wee boy, I What matters to me:
Ever since I was a wee boy, I have been fascinated by how things are designed and built. I used to build Lego spaceships on the living room floor. I soon learned that having an idea of what I wanted the end-product to look like made it much easier to start building. This introduced to me the idea of “design” – the need for a plan before the construction phase.
A few years later, my love of building and dismantling systems merged with an interest in the outdoors, and I began building and riding bicycles. This meant I could go further out into the great outdoors, fully immersing myself in the natural beauty of my surroundings. It was here that something clicked – I realised that it just didn’t make sense for such an incredible system to have come into existence without there being a design stage and a build stage, like any other project.
Now that I’m a qualified design engineer, I continue to be amazed by God’s incredible work as a designer and builder. For me, there is no question that he is the great creator of heaven and earth. The Bible devotes hardly any time to the story of creation, instead focussing on the incredible plan (or “design”) that God has for the future. Every time I read his word, I see the work of an all-powerful design engineer and it gives me great hope to know that he has a plan for this world, and by extension, for me.

Bible verse of the day

God chose what is low and despised in the world, even things that are not, to bring to nothing things that are, so that no human being might boast in the presence of God.
