The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork
Psalm 19 v 1
If we can get away from street lights on a clear night and look up at the stars, it can be awe-inspiring. King David felt the same, and was moved to write:
When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is man that you are mindful of him…?
Psalm 8 vv 3-4
We seem so small in the context of the vast night sky, but God takes an interest in individuals. Jesus told his disciples:
The Father knows what you need before you ask him
Matt 6 v 8
In these darker months of the year our problems can seem to be magnified, but Jesus cared enough about us to give his life.
Greater love has no one than this, that someone lays down his life for his friends. You are my friends if you do what I command you.
John 15 vv 13-14
