Throughout the Bible if we look carefully we can see many references which tell of the return of Christ back to this earth. Christadelphians believe that this will happen sometime in the future. This is the Bible’s message from the Acts of the Apostles.
And when he [Jesus] had said these things, as they were looking on, he was lifted up, and a cloud took him out of their sight. And while they were gazing into heaven as he went, behold, two men stood by them in white robes, and said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into heaven? This Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will come in the same way as you saw him go into heaven.
God plans for his son to return to the earth and establish his kingdom, where Christ will rule over the earth for 1000 years. The above passage is reiterated in many other chapters, one of which is Daniel chapter 7.
I saw in the night visions, and behold, with the clouds of heaven there came one like a son of man, and he came to the Ancient of Days and was presented before him. And to him was given dominion and glory and a kingdom, that all peoples, nations, and languages should serve him; his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom one that shall not be destroyed.
Daniel was a great prophet and he has several prophesies which relate to the return of Christ and the establishment of the kingdom of God. One of these is in Daniel chapter 2.
And in the days of those kings the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that shall never be destroyed, nor shall the kingdom be left to another people. It shall break in pieces all these kingdoms and bring them to an end, and it shall stand forever, just as you saw that a stone was cut from a mountain by no human hand, and that it broke in pieces the iron, the bronze, the clay, the silver, and the gold. A great God has made known to the king what shall be after this. The dream is certain, and its interpretation sure.
These verses prophesy of Christ’s return (“you saw that a stone was cut from a mountain by no human hand“) to the earth to set up God’s kingdom. What is important to us are the verses prior to the ones above in Daniel 2, which refer to various metals symbolising the empires which were to come to power after the Babylonian empire (Gold). These were prophetic and history has shown that they have come to pass (Silver- MedoPersian, Bronze – Grecian, Iron – Roman, Iron and clay – kingdoms of the modern world), giving us an absolute confidence that the verses above will also happen as stated by Daniel. Christ will indeed return to the earth as prophesied in the Bible.
